Polyester &  It's Applications
 
 
The advent of polyester as a fiber has been the most redefining moment for the Textile Industry as a whole. This product not only reduced the overdependence on natural fibres, but also opened up new vistas in terms of usage and applications.

With new developments being supported by extensive research all around the globe, the world polyester production has grown from the production of mere 5 million tones in 1980 to about 21 million tones in 2002. The forecast is there for the production of 33 million tones by year 2010.

The growth of Polyester as a product looks imminent as consumption in the developing nations is still abysmally low visa vis that of developed nations. The share of polyester in total world fibre production is about 30% and is expected to be about 40% in times to come.

The applications of the polyester is found in both apparels as well as non apparels.

The apparel industry can be further segregated as - Garments, Fashion wear, Swim Wear, Sports Garments, Hosiery Etc.

The non apparel industry can be identified as - Packaging, Carpets, Automotives, Upholstery, Healthcare and other Industrial applications.
